How to use the EZP2023+ USB High speed Programmer

These programmers are needed to read and write EEPROM and FLASH memory chips in various electronic devices and reset, update or repair faulty firmware. You can get in-circuit programming clips, but I recommend desoldering or removing the memory from the host device to avoid problems. Applying power to the chip while it is in the circuit can cause current to be sent to other low-level devices (CPU or other devices), causing damage.

  1. Plug the programmer into the USB port of a Windows computer with no memory chip placed in socket.
  2. Install driver as I will show you below.
  3. Disconnect from USB.
  4. Place a memory IC in the programmer, directly or via an adapter.
  5. Launch programming utility and change language to English.
  6. Plug the programmer into the USB port.
  7. The state displayed on the status bar of the programming utility will change from “Not connected” to “Ready”.
  8. Use “Test” button to detect IC or select it from the list.
  9. Perform read, write or erase operations as needed.
  10. Unplug from USB when done.

First of all, programmers need drivers. There are a few available, but you don’t have to worry if they don’t work because they are truly libusb and you can always use Zadig to create drivers.

According to the user manual, when you plug in a programmer, it will appear in Device Manager as “USB Programming Device” or “WinUSBComm”. I seem to be the latter and have an ID of 1FC8:310B, so I can confirm that this method works in this case. Be very careful about what you choose to type. If you make a wrong choice, the drivers of other USB devices will be modified and will not work.

This programmer can read and write the bios chips of DVDs, TVs, PCs, hard disks, Receivers, routers, etc.
